FIA HEAD

 

 

 

In July 2002  I started a rejuvenation project on a bare, Late model FIA head. the head is described in the Nismo manual of 1985 as (11041-N7120) Intake port enlarged 45X 42mm.

 

I first heard of the existence of this head through a friend. People had talked about the head,  but not done anything about it as the head had been stripped of all its hardware but still had the all important inlet manifold for the water outlet. I purchased it for a reasonable (but far from cheap) sum and began acquiring parts to rejuvenate the head.

 

The work done and parts purchased costs at 2002 were -

 

Purchase  44 inlets (214N stainless tuliped) and 36.5mm exhausts (214N stainless - tuliped and tuftrided)

Flow bench the head and carry out some port improvements then match all port flows.

Fit new Serdi "B" Silchrome inlet seats and Serdi "A" high nickel exhaust seats, Fit "k- line" inserts, weld chamber and reshape, throat ports and machine multi angle valve seats and blend into chamber.

Obtain valve springs to suit 0.580" lift on valves

Manufacture steel valve spring seat bases

Titanium valve spring retainers.

Billet 76 degree hi lift cam

Purchase new rocker arms and lash pads

Re flow the head with inlet manifold in place after head work completed.

Manufacture billet alloy adaptors to replace rubber isolators.

Ports are 48mm x 44mm which give a 44mm diameter at the manifold face. The ports taper to stock diameter in the head and are flow matched.
